This is the ugliest note I've seen. The obverse of some sort strange figure and the reverse a satellite disk. Satellite disk? ? ?

I would agree that it is very ugly!! i,am trying to figure out what the heck a satellite dish
Is doing on it? does it mean there is no t.v except if you have one of these??

 

I dunno, maybe the dish is a symbol of prosperity or something. I couldn't pass it up. Think I paid $3.00 for it from Dave Cienewicz at the Baltimore show.

I think it's a safe bet that ABNCo did not design currency for Sierra Leone.

That guy looks like he shoulda died a long long time ago.

 

I'd like to know why those images were chosen. Life is pretty tough in Sierra Leone and those figure sure aren't going to cheer up anybody.

Interesting story. I hope the image on the note is a bit stylized.

Bai Bureh was quite a warrior. His appearance probably scared the enemy troops into surrendering or running from him.
With Bai Bureh on the obverse the reverse should have a nice calm tropical scene or something instead of a satellite dish.
