Crazy story, Was at walmart today, go to get a coke out of the vending machine, and me being a coin collecor I always look at my change.
Well i see this really shiny dime and i look at the date, I was like nahhh that cant be right, rubbed my eyes and looked at it again.
Still not beleving this was real i handed it to my friend and asked him, "whats the date on that" He said 1959, so? whats the big deal, I snatched it out of his hand and said oh nothing! Shall we get out of here?

    Full bands mint state?!

Some collector must have been real mad when he accidently put his coin in there to get a 50 cent coke lol.

So into a holder and into my box it goes!

I'm not sure what's more amazing - your find, or that you can still get a coke for 50 cents somewhere!

Nice coin/story, but that's not FB nor MS. The top band is broken and the front has brown spots. :p

I would have put more change in it and hit the coin return lever to see if more came out of it...but thats just my thinking.

I'm not sure. Did the 59 Rosie have a P mm on the reverse? Or is that a D?

  14. Nice find! I thought newer vending machines rejected silver, and if that is the case it is more likely that the dime was in the coin return slot. TC

As blind as I am, I can see that it is a "P". Hold the CTRL key down and hit the Plus (+) key as many times as necessary to enlarge. To return to normal size, hold the CTRL key down and hit the Minus (-) key the same number of times.

I wouldnt say that its terribly new, how new do you think they would have to be to reject silver?

Nice little find, one thing is that it's silver, another is that it's in great shape. I have yet to find a silver dime or any silver coin in circulation.

There were no P mintmarks on US coins in 1959.

That's what I thought. It does look like a "P" though.
