hello coin people and hobyyiest alike i just found this forum i think this would be a great place to start my new journey into collecting and investing coins. anyways i found this dime. is it a error? i used a scanner so please bear with with me if the image looks wierd
Welcome to the forum!! Based on your photo it may be a slightly misaligned die with a ton of PMD (post-mint damage) on it. The misaligned die is very common on 80's/90's dimes (at least in my experience) and is unfortunately worth no premium :/ awww. gbroke beat me to it haha. Guess I need to type faster.
Ripley your coin don't look like a broadstrike to me but maybe I'm wrong. It looks like it has been struck from a die that had some type damage on it but I don't know what kind.. I have found a few like this while roll searching but never kept any of them. A broadstrike dime coin or any broadstruck coin is a coin that has been struck without the retaining collar in place and this let's the coin flair out much more bigger than one struck in the collar. also the coins edges will be smooth with no signs of the reeding at all.
