    Hey gang!

This coin crossed my desk this week. You can see from the pictures that this coin has some heavy PVC contamination. The color you see is NOT toning as I would consider it, but rather caused PVC residue. It's icky and sticky and could easily be smudged with the touch of a finger. This coin was given a acetone soak of about 30 minutes and then it was washed in distilled water. There were a couple of spots of light brown toning caused by the residue and a very quick properly executed dip removed most of those. You can barely see the remnants of what didn't come off just in front of the sitting bust but at this point any further dipping or treatment is not going to happen.

By dip you mean the acetone? Or did you use something else.

Thanks for the post my friend.

After your work, did you discard the used acetone & distiled water?

Is the acetone that women use to take nail polish off the same as pure acetone or are they different?

Different. Nail Polish usually has other stuff added to it.
