Looks to have been harshly cleaned.... the color is way off.

 

I think it's the 1908-S which is the money coin. Yeah that coin says nothing but "I'm harshly cleaned and available for the next quickest person with cash", stay away from it.

 

Yeah the coin is cleaned, but i know where that coin comes from, that ebay seller is very good.

 

Was it listed as cleaned?

 

Must be an invisible S?

See all the little hairlines going in the same direction on the obverse? Dead giveaway. They're on the reverse as well, just harder to see.

 

The color as well.... it's really pink... that's not good either.

 

Yeah, that as well... but color can be easily manipulated in Photoshop or by the photographer themselves... see pretty much any coin sold by Great Southern Coins as an example of that.

There is no mintmark on that coin.

 

I`ll recognize that description pattern anywhere heh... i think this is the most successful eBay seller ever. His coins are always sold, always for a price slightly higher (sometimes much higher) than exact same coins from other sellers. Seems like a reliable seller though, bought from him numerous times.

 

I agree definately cleaned. I would stear clear of this one for sure.

 

I think Fret was refering to the '08-s in general and not to the coin posted specifically.

 

After reading his entire post, I think fretboard is saying; Unlike this coin, the 1908 S is the one that would have some value even if it was cleaned so pass.

Hey just because he didint list the coin as cleaned dosent mean hes a bad seller, thats why you gotta know what your doing and what to watch out for, still should he list it in the info? Sure of course.

Just saying with ith like 10 or 20k positive feedback id say that is very good.

I ordered from him once and recieved my coin in like 2 days.
