    This is a serious poll about what I think is a serious issue for collectors of high value currency. What I'd like to know is your opinion on the following question:

    Of all the un-certified (not encapsulated) large size currency notes for sale through all venues (including auctions) in the USA at any given time, valued at $500 or more, approximately how many of those notes do you believe have been purposely washed, ironed and/or cleaned for the purpose of making the note appear to be a better grade?

    I'm a small-size collector, but it's my understanding that back in the good old days, it was fairly common for collectors/dealers/investors to "improve" large-size notes by washing, cleaning, pressing, and even trimming notes. I voted the 31%-60% range.
