I have just reached the end of the first phase of organizing my World Coin and currency collection. I have cards made for each of the countries that I have now, that have the flag, some photos of that country and a brief history of that country. Then I have the paper money that I have for that country followed by the coins. I never dreamed when I started this, that it would take 30 binders 3 inches thick to hold it. I have cards for, and coins or currency or both for 281 countries now, and I know of at least 42 more countries listed in the 32nd Standard countries that I don't coins or Paper for, yet. And I'm sure there are a bunch I don't know about yet. Does anyone have more countries? Would it be appropriate for me to list a the countries that I need on this board in case anyone has xtras they will part with, or know where I can find them? JonySky
Congrats on your accomplishment !! As for your question - please use the Open Forum for that kind of post - that's what it's for
one in works I am working on a simple list of the countries now. My database is in Excell and I have each bill listed that I have from each country along with the relevant data. I don't have the individual coins listed yet, that is a work in progress, but I am making a brief list with info on whether I have coins or currancy or both for each country. I'll give you a heads up when I post. JonySky
Interesting you posting a picture of Ceylon.... does it mean you're collecting coins at the time british ruled? Its Sri Lanka now. I'm Sri Lankan.
Wow 1948! I honestly thought it was later than that, i suppose the change of name later must be what i was getting confused, i thought the name had changed with the independence. I was way off there, i have studied alot of British history but almost exclusively pre-1600 so the whole Empire thing both rise and fall is totally outside anything i've ever done. Being British as i am, i suppose that's pretty bad me not knowing anything about the more recent stuff.
When we gained independence the priminister was a sri lankan and Sir Henry Mason Moore was the Governor but the name was changed only in 1972 when the country became a republic. This was the last kingdom before britain took over.
Jony, That's very impressive.Even the Mikjo collection, library, archives, museum and day spa doesn't have that many binders. I'd like to see more pictures and that list of countries you do and don't have.
