Here’s a nice looking Franklin Half Dollar that I’ve had for a number of years. I only need about 6 more to. have a set graded by PCGS as MS-64 or higher with Full Bell Lines. Scratches are on the slab, not the coin but there are a few marks on the coin.
Nice looking Franklin, Dave! To be honest, it’s not a series that ever “tripped my trigger” but I do have one for my type set.
I really like the Franklins. I have 3 sets, all in circulation condition. One of them is XF and AU. I only need two more common date coins to have a set from junk silver but I can’t find them. My online coin retailers and my LCS don’t have them either. But I almost done with the high grade set. One day. Lol
Weren’t there some of the San Fransisco dates (1949-1953 I think) that were struck weakly for whatever reason? I wonder if those years are even available with FBL?
Yes there were and yes, they have FBL designations. I just figured they were hit of the press and did better before they quickly became weak strikes. Just don’t ask me what dates they are. lol
53S in FBL is the real showstopper. 52S is also tough, the others are not bad. Surprisingly, 62 and 63 (Philadelphia mint) are the other two really tough ones. Now, if you really want a challenge, find it in Prooflike
The last one I found to complete my circulated set was the 1953-S, and it took me a while. It's funny, because the 1953-P and the 1955-P are scarcer, but I didn't have too much of a problem finding those. Which ones do you need?
