Yet to find one in well over $1k searched. I have a couple IHC's, several '09 VDB's, bunch of earlier dates with mintmarks, a 1999 WAM, but I've never found a proof cent, haha.

Also worth noting; I've found proofs of every other denomination except dimes.

Just returned from the coin club meeting. Bob just found a 2007S half I needed and I had an extra 1999S that he needed so we swapped. Anyway, I was out garage sale shopping Saturday for rolls of coins as I have been finding more at garage sales lately than boxes for sure. I found a few rolls of cents mostly 20's and 30's and they had a couple of proof sets. I went out to my truck and pulled out ye ole trusty red book. One of the sets was a 1981 proof set. The book shows two types. One is worth $9 and the other with clear "s" coins is worth $375 (Red book prices). Looking at the mint marks, they looked clear to me so I took a flyer and bought it for $8. Tonight at the club, I showed it to several experts and low and behold, 5 of the coins are clear s's for sure and a split decision on one of them. Even if it is just 5 of 6 it is a strong score.

    I love garage sales!

Ok!! I searched my normal 4 boxes of halves tonight...

    Box 1: 5 NIFC and 3 40%
    Box 2: 3 NIFC, 11 40%, one '64 and a '63 Franklin!!!
    Box 3: 2 NIFC and 4 40%
    Box 4: 3 NIFC, 1 40%, and a 1973 S!!

WOOHOO!!! 19 40% and 2 90% and all the other fun stuff!!

On a side note, I was looking at the '03 S I found several weeks ago and noticed that Kennedy's head is different than every other Kennedy I've seen. Did they use a different die for the proofs that year??

Yes, Erin scored on that 81 proof set. They all look like clear s varieties to me. 8 bucks turned into $300. Gotta love it.

I won a door prize at the coin club....a 43 mercury dime.

I opened one box of halves today.....3 40%ers and one Bender which turned out to be a 1951 Frankie :D

An "ender" is when silver is showing on the end of a roll. A "Bender" would be a Ben Franklin on the end of a roll. You could call a Kennedy silver a "Kender" etc.

today i took my change to the bank to get more nickels, i had about 65$$. i got home and started looking through the plastic sleeves, i noticed several dark edges, so i went on ahead and started looking, i found 14 silver nickels!!!! most of them was duplicates, but it didn't stop there, i found a 1939 d . i couldn't believe the quality on it. it looks amazing, and what is weird i found some proof nickels in there too a 1987 and 1990. pretty good haul if u ask me

Sorry, I wasn't paying attention and thought you said dimes. It seems to me that all of the dimes that I find that are slightly off center are Phillies.

Funny you would mention that, I also just found a Kennedy stamped Lincoln a few weeks ago. Kinda interesting.

1 box of nickels netted me 2 silvers, '42-s and a '45-d. It also produced 17 pre 50's, and a 1950, not the D dang it. Nice score on the 14 silvers woobacca!
