I found this coin, can someone tell me what it is and what it's worth.
On one side it has a double headed bird with a crown above it. To the right of the crown it says FRANCISC.D.G.ROM.IMP.A. around the whole coin ending back at the crown. On the other side it looks like there is a key in the middle. Around the edge it says MON.NOV.REIP.BREM.1749

Can someone please tell me what this is?

    Thanks

Your inquiry has been moved to the correct forum for this type of posting. Please read the sticky thread "Determining Value", and post additional information, preferably including a picture.

While your coin is clearly from the Free City of Bremen, a German State, it can't be further identified (or valued) without knowing it's size, metallic color, and grade.

A rough translation of the legend is "Francis, by the grace of God August Emperor of the Romans", and the edge indicates it is "New Money of the Republic of Bremen", dated 1749.

Who said it was in Italy Aidan? I can't find any reference to Italy in this thread before your posting.
