MS-64, they may bump it up since it's a semi key date. But to be honest, it's just a guess. Still trying to learn.
That is a 64 all day long and likely a 65 with any descent luster and I am pretty sure it has the luster.
Definitely a novice regarding grading, but I will take a guess. I will say ms64. Looking at the small pics I was tempted to say 66, but upon enlarging I noticed the small hit on the upper left wheat stalk and a couple of small hits on his chest. Either way, that is an amazing looking coin and I'd love to have one that nice in my collection! What kind of price would that coin most likely fetch?
If it has luster like you say it does, it could get a 65. NGC really focuses on the luster on alot of their grades.
The coin is Red Brown... MS65 RED bid is $3,150 A 65 Brown recently sold at heritage for $1092. If this coin 65RB's it's worth between $1,000 and $1,500 IMO.
Wow, my wife would literally kill me if I spent $1500 on a wheat cent! Good luck with the grading and I truly hope they give it the 65RB.
For what it's worth (not very much), my first impression was MS65 and I'm usually a couple of points low.
It is an extremely nice wheatie, and a semi-key date. IMO it should grade a solid 65 maybe a 66. In either case you have a winner there.
Awesome coin & great picture. Question, will the 2 fingerprints on the obverse affect the grade? 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock. I could be wrong. Just wondering.
This coin was the non VDB cent I bought in a really nice type set. The former owner said he put it together 30 years ago.
WOW! Killer 12-S, one of the best I've seen, EDS and exceptional detail.....I want it! LOL I see a fingerprint, I think I do. If they're in a good mood on grading day, MS-65RB.
