Is there a way for the buyer to change the default eBay shipping charge to reflect the combined shipping that a seller offers? If I try to pay, it always charges me the single item shipping for each item and I have to ask the seller for an invoice. It would be nice if I could enter it myself but don't see a way to do that.
If the seller offers combined shipping on multi-items from their store, and you order two items from the same store, it will automatically charge shipping on 1 item only and the seller ships both items. Buyer can't change shipping charges on a sellers items. You can ask the seller if they will combine shipping, most won't have a problem with this.
It depends too, on the actual time between wins. I have been purchasing numismatic books from an eBay seller liquidator (apabivens), if I win more than one aution the same day, shipping is automatically combined. If a day or two pass by, different invoices will be generated. Hope this helps! Steve
Just to be clear, I'm not trying to make up my own shipping charges or anything. I'm talking about a situation where the seller says in their listing "combined shipping is 50 cents for each additional item" but then when I go to pay, the price eBay gives me is the original charge on each item. But it sounds like only the seller can enter this. I've been asking the seller for an invoice in these situations, but I thought maybe I could save the seller some work and do it myself.
No, I understand that completely. That is something the seller puts in, usually when they set up the auction/BIN.
This all depends on how the seller has their shipping charges setup. It can be setup to automatically reduce the shipping costs on the extra items. If it is not, then you have to request an invoice or the seller will send you an invoice.
I have bought multiple items a lot of times on ebay. I always wait until completion of the last item and then try to pay. If it doesn't combine the shipping cost, I wait a day for the seller to send an invoice. I've never had to request the combined shipping discount. The seller has always come through for me before my request for the discount.
