kash.jpg This appears to be a T'ung-chih cash from Szechuan province. What are those little dots in the fields of the obverse, and why are the characters of the obverse (T'ung-pao) transposed left and right? Is it a fantasy piece or.......?

It's one of those modern copies that are sold for use in Daoist fortune-telling consulting the I Ching. The dots in the field are one of the defining features of these copies.
