Umm, the sequence clearly indicated that the dealer was letting the OP off the hook on those 70/90 (again, the details are foggy), since the dealer wasn't able to present them for refund. Now, I'm sure that if all of the story is taken at face value, the dealer would eventually find the customer who bought/reserved 50, so the amount that wouldn't be refunded would be 20/40, unless the dealer was able to contact all the customers. To be honest, if it were my store, I'd tell the one/two (again, the story is foggy) employees who did the acid tests that it's their task for the week to hunt down the customers who bought the fakes. The dealer, as far as the story goes, is trying to recoup their costs. That's the part where I think the dealer could be doing something fishy. It seems possible (though not plausible, due to the holes prevalent in the story) that the dealer "sold" (or held for inventory) the coins that were real from the bunch (70/90) and wants to return the ones that are counterfeit. That's actually completely within their right, legally, but I say it's fishy if they aren't just being open about that being the case.

Player11, it's possible that there is more than one person named Dave in California that drinks tequila and collects coins. :p

"These threads" all start off helpful and seemingly friendly enough, then the same 'certain posters' turn on the OP. Being new, it is very intimidating to be piled on without provocation other than seeking assistance. I am not siding with ANY one on this particular thread, but speaking from personal experience (only), it does not help this site as a whole for entrenched members to flame newbies.
