I know next to nothing about collectible notes. I bought these today very cheaply. The condition appears to be authenic and match illustrations I checked on the web. What are yoour thoughts. The $50 note is sealed in some tye of laminate, which I assume kills any collectible state. I have 4 of the $5 notes in grades of good to very good, maybe fine. Like I said know nothing about currency or grading. I just compared mine to illustrations on a web site specializing in CSA notes.
Hi I think your Bluebacks are OK. the serial numbers on them do not match the numbers of any known counterfeits.
So there is a list of know counterfeits. Interesting. The other 3 are 19834,15524,and 9246. All are hand written as well as the signatures. All are dated 2/17/1864. Any collector value in these, or just plain interesting. What does the "c" mean? The others are marked "H", "F", and "G" . Each has a different signature for the Register and Treasurer. They are crudely trimmed, almost like they were hand cut. I think I might have found a new subject to persue.
Sonlarson. The $5 Louisana note I found in Criswell's book. State of Louisanna # 10. the viginette dipits the North & South in conflict. Too bad for the poor condition.
That's OK. I bought these for a song and I will have fun doing the research. Isn't that what collecting is all about?
Absolutely... I suggest you get this book. Confederate States and Southern States Currency by Grover Criswell. Its basically the Bible of Reb notes. Have fun.
I agree, they all seem like legit notes. And yes the Confederate States and Southern States Currency by Grover Criswell is an outstanding reference book. Good find. Congrats, I collect those notes as well, and you might find they are addicting to collect!
You have to be careful! there are many things you can do to notes to make them look old Just because they appear to be old doesnt make them authentic!
I'm a brand new member of this board and I recently aquired several CSA notes in very good condition. Is this the right place to ask about aproximate value?
