In that case my young friend I suggest you spend any and all spare time browsing pics on eBay, Heritage, Teletrade and every coin forum you can find.

I'm going to have to say 64 on the half maybe 65, on the wheat cent, either vg-8 or 10, and I'm going to say 64 on the eagle.

Sounds like a good idea. I'm also going to contact a very very good friend of my father's who has probably over 1000 slabbed coins in his shop and ask him if I can come in on Saturday for his open hours and look at his coins. My dad has a bunch of slabbed coins come to think of it. I'd look at my coins and guess, but I already know what grade they received :D

Please feel free to post any coins you can. I'm not so good with errors, in fact I'd really have no idea how to guess a grade on this one. I'd be very interested in knowing the grade though.

Well, I can't grade it, but it appears to me that the second one is dated 1650 and says blessed be the name of our lord? I would say you threw me a little more than a curve ball. That ball, cannot be hit. :)

BTW, could you tell me what coins they are? I became curious after not being able to figure out what they are, or how to grade them. Don't tell me the grades just yet though, I just may go out and learn some new things :)

    LOL !! - great response !

Don't wanna hijack your thread but I couldn't resist - I'll be brief. The first is a Real D'Or 1546-56 issued under Charles V Holy Roman Emperor - the mint was Brabant in the Netherlands.

The second is a 1650 demi (half) ecu issued by Louis XIIII - mint was Limoges.

Thanks for the information. It seems to me, that everytime I see a gold coin from the netherlands, that it is wonderful. I think I may have to start collecting those coins soon. I'll be in the netherlands on March 8-12, I'll have to stop by some coin shops maybe if they have any where I'm at :)

Half dollar is MS66...like I said I thought it was hard...
    Cent is G and $5 is MS60

I agree that the $5 could maybe get an upgrade....but the cent is as far as it will go IMHO.

Make that 2 people that agree to check out Heritage and such...there photos are great!!....the one thing I have noted about Heritage is that they don't show CAMEO too well...so a coin might be PF??CAMEO but the photo doesn't show the CAMEO....don't worry about that--in hand you will see the CAMEO.

I'm going to say xf-40 on the Real D'or, and ms-62 on the half ecu. I'm probably way off.

    Here is anther one
The buff is PCGS--it would upgrade...its in an old holder.

I might post some from PCI that are graded right and would cross over to PCGS/NGC.

We agree on the Cent. I honestly expect to see MS63 or so on the quarter (not a half  ), and around 63 for the Morgan. I'm having the Morgan slabbed because it's a Pitted Die Top 100 - I almost expected the lower reverse to throw you off, because it looks like damage when it's in reality the VAM.

I will PM you when they get back, in about two weeks.

Oops, Lol, I knew it was a quarter, I make mistakes like that sometimes. : ) I'll be thinking about one thing and type another.

I'm going to guess 65/66 on that one.

It is MS63 but everyone thinks it would get MS64/5.....so I think you are right with the MS65.
