is this a 1916 D.

    Just wanted to see what you thought about this old busted up Merc. I really dont think it is a D but hey who knows.

    To me it looks like an S. The part of the MM closest to the E looks like it is curving inward, which a D does not do. It still could be, but it looks like an S.

    That would be a "S" the "D" for Denver had a serif coming off the top & bottom of the letter, distinguishable even at this worn state.

    The mint mark is the wrong shape for a D. My guess is a 16-S

    I think Mike meant the first S to be a D.

    I agree, it looks like an S

    Nope, his other "S" was for Sacramento.

    lol, I meant it isn't the right shape for a D. t looks like a 16-S to me.
