Found this searching a roll. It appears to have removed the "A-L-F D" from "HALF DOLLAR." Thoughts? http://www.flickr.com/photos/saintlouisdanceartist/5557002688/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/saintlouisdanceartist/5556417323/
Missing some stars there too. I'd say PMD, but I'm no expert. Kind of a neat coin to keep around, though.
I would normally say struck through grease, however where the letters are missing, the planchet looks pretty beat up. I will say PMD
DMiller... Don't worry. That's honestly the first thing that went through my head, too. Ha! The coin doesn't look manipulated, and the fields are extremely similar to a group of West Virginia quarters I got in a brand-new roll a while back. I'm very inclined to believe its authenticity. I doubt it has much added value...would you guys say maybe $5-$10? It's probably one of the cooler errors I've pulled from a roll, though. Still not as cool as my 1894/4 Indian that I found while sorting coins at the local coin shop, and still not as cool as my 1956 D/D Cent I found searching through a bag o' Wheaties. But still cool IMO.
