i miss billy booo 001.jpg i miss billy booo 002.jpg This is a quick picture of the 1892 I found. It was one of the very first finds I found roll searching and maybe the best roll I ever opened. Sorry if the picture is poor quality.

Here's my dilemma with the coins I found today. All of the roles that had the Barbers, Walkers, and Bens had the same name and phone number written on the role. I'm debating all calling this person to see if they have any more coins at all. I kind of feel awkward doing this but, if I can score some more Barbers and Walkers...................

I wouldn't do it, dude... they could call the bank, complain about their number being given out, and then the bank might not hand out halves any more... Just a hypothetical to think about.

I agree Merc. In fact, I don't think they should be giving out rolls with people's names and phone numbers on it. I can understand requiring it when you turn them in, but they should white it out or something before giving it back out to someone else. What if someone sees it and assumes the person probably has a bunch of silver and goes to rob them? Not a good thing for the bank to be doing.

Good point, this is one of my main dump branches and they just happened to have these roles that they were going to ship out along with my dump. I also work for this bank in their cyber threat and fraud group, wouldn't look good if I was the one using customer information for gain. However, they should have blacked out the information on the roles.

I was going to slightly disagree and say call, but after THAT information...............unless you want a new job, I would say no.........
    .......................................want me to call?

I'd inform the branch manager about that, that could definitely be a bad news bears type situation...

I have to talk with the tellers anyway about blacking out client information on the rolls. I may ask them if the customer who dropped the rolsl is a regular and leave my number for him\her to call me if they have any coins that they want to sell. That way everyone is happy and the customer doesn't feel like their privacy was invaded.

And yes, I do want a new job! ;)

I'm expecting a job offer Friday or Monday, maybe Tuesday... but within the next week, with any luck. My pay should go up by, oh, double.

You'd be surprised of the amount of information that leaks out of banks. I had to investigate a branch one time that experienced a high level of customer breaches. Turns out they had a monitor facing the drive through window and someone was in the parking lot across the street with military grade binoculars reading customer data off of the monitor.

If the rolls would of had account or SSN information on it.......... Someone would have lost their job.

    Two boxes of halves today

    1st box: 7 40%
    2nd box: 1 40%

Going to try a box of nickels or dimes 2morow, any suggestions on which one will produce a better chance of silver?

I went into a local liqour store to buy a few rolls of lincolns and the lady handed over 4 rolls...3 were marked "1950's", and 1 was marked "1940's"...the ends were taped with old and yellowed tape.
I'm gonna crack them open today and see what I got.

I got a 1922 No D two weeks ago that was pretty beat up, but it went for $405 on ebay..
Not bad for a one cent investment....

DON'T CALL!!! The bank should have applied black magic marker to the rolls before handing them over to you. Go to the bank
and inform them. Also thank them for their service. Forget the name of the teller too.

Just found this forum last week and joined. Thought I would post my recent good fortune. I enjoy getting rolls from the bank to look for silver, even though I don't do it very frequently. Last week I went in the bank and asked if they had any halves and I got 2 rolls. Went home and cracked the first open and found nothing. Cracked the second open and every coin in it was 66-69. This was pretty incredible considering I had only ever found two 40%s before and no 90%s. I figured I would go back the next day and see if they had any more rolls because this seemed to me that someone must have found grandpas coin collection, not realized what it was, rolled it up and cashed it in, so there might be more. All they had left was ten loose halves at the counter so I asked if I could give them a look. Of the ten 4 were 1964 Kennedys and one was a 1961 Franklin. I think I am now hooked.
