Picked these out from a bag the shop owner hadn't put out for perusal yet.
Hit rate is always much better with a fresh bag of foreign coins.
Some of the Brazil ones are new types for me, such as the 1937 1000 Réis.
I'm very gradually working on a 20th Century Brazil base metal type set, at least for whatever I can find for cheap. It's a considerable task...

Another nice bunch. I like the Italian 5 lira, bunch of grapes, and the Indonesian 100 Rupiah. Well done

    Thanks! I hadn't realized the Indonesia 1973 100 Rupiah is a single-year type.
It's not exactly scarce, though--they made over 250 million of them.
1973 is my birth year, so maybe I have a soft spot for coins of that year.
I don't think of 1970s coins coins as old enough to be interesting to collect, but now that I'm starting to get up there, maybe I should revise my views!

Brazilian coins don't show up much at coin shops. I'm a big junk bin fan and I rarely see the reis coins. Fortunately I have a large set because I made this a focus area when I was doing a lot of eBay buying.

My grandfather dug up a large 1829 counterstamp 40 Reis Brazilian copper (larger than a silver dollar) from his garden on Long Island. He also dug an 1854 large cent, an 1809 half cent, and a 1782 Mexican Real from the same garden. Obviously, they circulated in the United States in the early 1800s.
