I'm thinking of sending this one in for appearance review for kicks... what a dog. I wonder if it didn't tone in the holder??? Or if someone put something on it before submitting it hoping it would tone later once in the holder?? It looks a lot like sulphur toning to me. Thoughts?
Just walked in the door like everything else.... needless to say I didn't pay a premium for this one.
I'll probably be in the minority (and I don't collect these) but I actually like that toning... it's an interesting color, haven't seen many of that on coins, and it gives the coin a nice look if you're not zooming in so much looking for a flaw or something. But I'm not a believer in toning deserving huge premiums, so I'd maybe pay just an extra couple bucks on top of melt for it, nothing more at all.
No offense to the Eagle collectors, but all I see is bullion. I will never understand why people bother slabbing these.
Neither do I. I collect 'em, but not in holders. Actually, I've been turning a few loose of late. With the profits I've been able to achieve advancements in other hobby endevors.......
Why just say it is toned, put it on ebay and it is priceless. I agree - that this coin has 0 eye appeal.
This is an older holder... pre sniffer.... not to mention the only coins that get sniffed are the secure plus coins.
I'd have that baby on EBAY already. While I may not like it there are those out there who do, (not that there is anything wrong with it.)
No, not unless it was the result of some chemical being poured on the coin. And I seriously doubt it was. The only thing the sniffer can do is detect the residue of chemicals and substances actually on the coin. It cannot tell AT from NT, and neither can any other machine. That said, ASE's naturally tone very quickly because of the purity of the silver.
I was going to send it in for appearance review... but I guess a few of you think I should EBay it. It would be fun to see if it indeed does bring anything over melt. Doug if I post a link to the EBay auction if I decide to list it... are you going to send me a nastygram?
Not as long as you post it in the Auction section Anywhere else, and Guido will be paying you a visit
Exactly.....someone could have done one of those taco bell napkin experiments with this one and left it sitting in a window sill...I doubt anything was applied to it.
Isn't the "sniffer" and "Secure Plus" offered by PCGS, not NGC? I checked the cert # on NGC, and there are no photos........strange? Chris
