Finally it's almost here. I live for these shows since it's hard to find items on my wantlist any other way. BTW the show (for collectors) is April 1 & 2. I intend to be there at opening time (10:00 AM) on Friday. Unless something changes between now and then no dealer has anything set aside for me. That's unusual. So I'll spend my time surfing the tables.
I may see you there! I've been looking at the dealer list for the show, you wouldn't happen to know which are world coin dealers would you? It would be nice if they broke the list down. Thanks!!!!! Mark in NJ
Mark, the world and ancient coins are in a separate section at the show so you should have no problem finding those dealers. Todd and I will be set up at table 1751 - please stop by and say hi!
I'm anticipating this years show to be a huge success . Don't forget , this also happens to be the first show for the new merger of Stacks/Bowers .
From what I hear and how the bigger shows have gone so far, this one should be better than average. I just returned from the Sac ANA and it was a bigger success than anticipated. Also, back in January, the FUN show was one of my best EVER shows, so this year is shaping up to be successful for big shows - but a lot also depends on what you're looking for.
I'm somewhat limited in that I can't attend the shows as I once had . Just the atmosphere and opportunity to meet other forum members and some of the big name Dealer representatives makes it worth the effort, even if you don't buy. Did you participate in the Heritage live Bourse bidding ? I picked up a very nice PRF Shield Nickel , at a considerable bargain price via internet live .
Mostly, a lot of the dealers. No one was wanting to deal and some were asking higher than normal prices on things. Just an overall disappointment.
I've always liked the Baltimore shows. I've been to several of them, but it's been a couple of years so don't know how the last few have been. I'm pretty sure I'm going this time so may see a couple of you there. Bruce
Thanks Penny Lady, what I'm trying to do is look at which are world coin dealers now, before the show. If the have a website I can see what inventory they have. I will stop and say hi for sure! I have wanted to meet you for quite a while, this is my big chance!
For those of you there early Friday, I suggest we "bump heads" about 11:30 at The Penny Lady's table. Just a short, informal "howdy". Don't want to interfere with her customers.
I'll be there 10AM sharp on friday. This is the first Whitman Show at Baltimore I will have attended. I did make it to the Philadelphia show last year, but it was a little overwhelming being the first "major" show I attended.
I'll also be there at 10 A.M. on Friday, and will try to get over to Penny Lady's table around 11:30. I'm coming down with 1066merlin and a couple of members of our local coin club. I hope to see some of you there. Bruce
Same here Log, Philly was my first big show last year. I was completely overwhelmed, so much so I totally forgot what I was looking for! This time I have notebook and I'm putting a game plan together. I'm going to "try" to stay focused! LOL, Who am I kidding,......... I'll probably forget the list! Good Luck next weekend!
Lat year I was looking to fill my Dansco 7070 US Type set. Way too much to look at to stay focused. I have a game plan this time. Also I'm looking for specific material this time and not "everything" lol!
