pillow marking ?

i got these with some stuff, says "1970 - 1972 misprints pillow marking on face " ?

any thoughts on these ?

Don't know what Pillow markings are. Whoever wrote that also wrote "Misprints". Coins aren't printed. Can you post a close up pic of one of the coins and we'll give you the proper id.

Have you got a low power loupe or magnifying glass you can shoot through?

 

Never heard the term "pillow markings."

 

Can you take the photos straight-on rather than at an angle? If you can focus on the coin straight-on the entire coin will be in focus. At an angle many portions of the coins are out of focus.

 

Maybe his hair is messed up, I have no clue...

 

Haha. He has bedhead, that must be what it means.

Maybe they were left under a pillow, i.e. the tooth fairy brought them.

 

It looks like that maybe what is being asked about is what looks like a sunken in area behind Lincolns profile. If this is the case then it is only die detoration from over use of the coin dies.

 

Folks with little or no numismatic knowledge (as attested to by the term "misprint") usually make up all sorts of terms which make little or no "cents" at all.

 

But, it made perfect sense to her!
