There is another thread that lists the 1939-D as the best type coin for the series. Here is my 1939-D, GEM BU!
I can't let a thread like this stall...I experimented with my photo skills. Sorry for the mistakes. The young: The bold: (The obverse is similar to the reverse posted below. I was working with different lighting and it blanched the coin, but this was the best detailed shot.) And the beautiful:
First time I ever posted a pic. Hope this works. Wow. Not good. Ummmm........does anyone know how I can get rid of the "attached thumbnails" words? OK. Got rid of those words. This is a mess. Sorry.
My kind of thread, I have one certified Merc which is a common date. 1943, PCGS MS-67. I can't believe this coin isn't full bands, because it sure looks like it. I have a 1921 P&D which are raw, and they are hard to photo.
It's not full-bands. Just look at it. Center band, left side, it's a pile of mush. There's a real good reason why PCGS didn't designate it as FB.
Actually bought my first coin with a slab the other day. It was a '44 Mercury at a MS64 grade. Only paid $24 for it, so I was happy. I'll get some pics of it later.
With 60yr old eye it very hard to tell.but your edit of photo I can now see why no FB was noted There's a real good reason why PCGS didn't designate it as FB.[/QUOTE]
