Here is some hilarity: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8383615337&indexURL=1#ebayphotohosting
You can have a dedicated forum JUST to stuff like this on the online auction houses. Everyday, there 100's of these type of auctions...hundreds!
Zaneman, keep it up. I love this type of stuff. I look at ebay all the time for these types of auctions. "IF THIS COIN WAS SLABED IT WOULD BE UPWARDS OF 175,000.00" Wow!
These are the kinds of auctions that upset me... http://cgi.ebay.com/2005-20th-AnNIv...385273355QQcategoryZ39488QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Sure, looks like a great deal, until you get to the fine print where the shipping is 24.95!!! :computer:
Another TPG marketing ploy it seems, just like "First Strike". The best part is they couldn't even wait 20 years. Everything that is really 19th anniversary is marked 20th anniversary! Greedy TPGs....
2005 was the 20th year of issue for the coins - count 'em up starting with '86. But I agree with you - it's a marketing ploy. The thing that gets me is that the mint is issuing 20th anniversary sets in 2006 - which will be the 21st year of issue :rolling:
Here is weirder. At Hertage I THOUGHT they have a $10,000 plus difference in two 1908-D $20 No Motto MS65 PCGS Saint-Gaudens Double Eagles. I kid you NOT. http://coins.heritagegalleries.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=26022&Lot_No=11462#Photo Now i see one is with the Motto and one without. These coins fuctuate wildly! You better knw what your buying. http://coins.heritagegalleries.com/...chkSupplies=&hdnSearch=True&hdnSubmitted=True Do I see a $6,000 spread between slabs?
Does this look like an MS 68 to you. That looks very ugly under the magnification of Hertiages cameras.
True, the problem is that the xth year of issue is the (x-1)th anniversary. Just as a marriage's first anniversary is one year after the marriage itself. I really wouldn't be surprised to see some of the TPGs labeling the 2006 ASEs as 20th anniversary. Either way, the Mint's going to end up with my money somehow once again! And that's OK with me!
http://coins.heritagegalleries.com/common/view_item.php?Inventory_No=155352005 Well it is listed as such for $28,000
no he's not, his reserve still hasn't been met! This ?#$% (doofus) actually thinks he can/should get more than that for it!
the Mint has been issuing Commemorative coins years after the event that they are 'commemorating' has past. So why quibble about one year here and there.
