Its a moot issue for me as I offer "free shipping." I just simply markup the item accordingly with all the other tackons I have in the computer to ensure the proper ROI.
I don't understand how giving low or free shipping will make your fvf's lower... could someone please explain this to me.
If you add the cost of shipping into your BIN price (or minimum bid in auction format) it doesn't. Either way, it's exactly the same. The purpose of this change was to nail sellers who charge exorbitant shipping charges to avoid FVF fees. In my opinion, eBay has done this correctly, and I applaud them.
I gave up on eBay about 3 years ago, when they removed a sellers ability to give feedback. That place is a joke now. It used to be the place to go for the best deal on stuff, now I dont even waste my time looking. I has a 2500+ fb on them as a seller, and dont misss the place one bit. I take that back, I miss they way it used to be.
I completely understand why this was necessary. Too many commercial stores charging $39,99 shipping with start bids of 99c. So greedy sellers ruined it for everyone. Go figure. Still eBay is the best venue I have found for both buying and selling to upgrade my collection sets. And maybe the professional sellers will move elsewhere and allow the private parties a better access ? That would be great ! IMHO gary
How exactly is this supposed to "help"? If I am shipping a 2oz First Class Parcel (which will cost $1.71) then eBay is charging me an additional $0.19 for a $0.99 sale?! And that does not even include the cost of proper packing. This will only require the raising of prices to accommodate this additional cost, and overall hurt the "normal" seller.
And here, I always thought the "no brainers" were the buyers who actually purchased anything with those incredibly high shipping costs.
The coin holders I sell sometimes ship for higher than the sell price in small quantities. Same is true with some low end coins.
