    Would make a nice filler.

I see nothing that screams fake to me, but as rough as that one is, I would recommend that someone look at it in hand.

LIBERTY looks a bit off to me but its probably just the pics/roughness. Did you find this in change?

From those photos, I would say it looks genuine as it doesn't appear as though the mm was added PM, and there a quite a lot of scratches on the reverse. I'd guess, G.

I wish I found this in change. It was the last coin I needed to fill in a complete lincoln set, so I bought it as a filler. $95. This will make do until I can afford a nicer, graded one. I just had concerns after I bought it that it may not be real. I looked for all the markers and could not tell me anything that it was not authentic, but just wanted to post it here for other opinions.

Doesn't appear to be the notorious altered 1944 D ... nice filler.

    Got a microscope?

The distance between the 19 and 14 in the date makes it look genuine. Altered 1944-D cents have too much distance.

Looks genuine, but there's lots of fakes out there. It's really hard to tell from the pictures. Looks to be VG-F details, corroded. Take it to a local dealer and see what they say.

It's safer to buy replicas of rare coins. At least you'll know they're fakes.

But the OP said he found it in circulation? Cool.

I'd look at it under a microscope. The 1914-D doesn't have VDB under Lincoln's bust. I'd look for that. I'd also check the mint mark just to be sure it isn't a 1914 that somebody added a mint mark to.

Disclaimer: I haven't looked at my 1914d's in a long time.

Is it me or is the d in a crazy placement? Is that a known placement on the mintmark? It looks like its almost being stamped into Lincoln's bust.

the mint mark is in the proper position on this coin, but it's a good place to be checking.

The coin appears to be genuine.
