It's awfully hard to snipe effectively when each page request takes a minute or more. Anybody else having problems this evening?

I have this problem all the time, but I'm also on dialup. :D As you could imagine, I end up losing a lot of auctions, but that's a good thing otherwise I'd be broke. lol

Okay, now CoinTalk's slow, too. I guess the problem must be on my end. Maybe I should hop down to the hotspot at Kroger and see what it's like from there.

DSL and worse yet, dial-up will have slow response times. Another can be if you're going wireless and your signal strength is poor. If that's not the problem, one thing I have had occur is putting your computer into hybernation repeatedly with the web browser still active instead of shutting it down. Try temporarily closing your web browser and re-opening it. I am on digital cable and usually have no speed problems when I want to snipe an item.

I'm on RoadRunner, and I'm on a Mac. (Yeah, my work laptop is running Vista, and it's really painful to deal with hibernation there.)

I have to shut down Safari once every week or two because it starts to hog too much memory, but that's not the problem tonight -- I'm seeing the same thing on a fresh launch of Firefox, too. I may try it on my wife's machines in a little bit, or on the iPad.

I just tried a traceroute to eBay, and it's a mess -- packets dropping all over the place. Same thing for Google. Possibly it's our router; I'll try rebooting that.
