It is a sample slab, not a sample coin. Sample slabs are highly collectable, especially a Rattler like that one.

Is it more rare to have a foreign coin in a sample slab?

I've picked up many sample slabs in the past few years, sold a bunch too. The most common ones seem to be PCGS/NGC slabs with silver dimes in them, usually 1963 or 1964 roosevelts. I've been able to find these at coin shows for between $5 & $10 each. I haven't seen many quarters around, but I've seen some '64 Kennedys in sample slabs, they sell for around $15-$25. I picked up an old NGC sample slab this weekend with a 1943 Steel cent in it. Thought it was cool. Of course, I've seen samples sometimes go for crazy money on eBay if someone needs one for their collection.

Haven't seen too many foreign coins in samples though, very cool.

    Hey mlov43
One is a 1959 in a green label slab.
And the other is a 1963 D in a brown slab
You can see pictures on U S coins.

Most years they made them. It's a promotional item to show what there holders are like. That is why there are many with cheap coins in them.

That is a cool one. I always liked those Swiss coins, especially the high grade ones. I have quite a few from Switzerland, from a 1901-B 1/2 Franc, to the various 5 franc coins, and many inbetween, including some rare dates.
That is a very nice looking example of a Swiss Half Franc, great buy for less than $5 with the sample slab. These Swiss coins are fun to collect, the silver ones like these, as well as the 1, 5, 10, and 20 rappen coins, those are alot of fun, and older dates aren't too expensive if you plan on building a collection.

Here is another high grade, fully struck head, Swiss half franc. This one from 1964. I had to get the pics through the flip, the little marks to the left of the figure on the obv, and any other marks and such are on the outside of the flip, not on the coin itself.

I have a small bunch of the also from other companies.

At each major show PCGS, NGC and ANACS give them out.

Sometimes, as ANACS does, they list the show on the label.
