Went to the parents' home today. Mom gave me a couple of bags, saying she found these while cleaning out her closet. She saved the majority of coins I collected as a kid. Needless to say I had a good laugh looking though most of them. Hope you guys do too. Enjoy!

The hoard...had three bags total and this was bag 1. If you look closely there's even the ASE I would carry around that Dad bought me for Christmas one year!

    Couple of comical coins:

One very worn "silver penny" and an almost unreadable Buffaloe:

Yep, that bicentenial quarter and junk Merc are so valuable they needed to be encapsulated in grossly oversized 2X2's with 6 staples!

And, the uncommon Kennedy and my first "silver" dollar.

I can't help but think that everyone thought I was nuts for holding on to Kennedy halves and quarters, dimes, and whatever else older than 1985 (because they were older than me, so they had to be worth something), but still it led to where I am now. Good laugh for a Sunday afternoon, nonetheless.

That sort of looks like my current collection. I have some coins I 2x2ed in the 60s.

My kiddie collection. Circa 1961. Note how collecting stops around 1962. These are wonderful "Time Capsules."

    That's great! Thanks for sharing!

It is amazing what we value as kids and how "values" change as we grow older based on someone elses view. I for one couldn't get rid of the funny coins I collected as a kid! I just HAD to keep them for sentimental reasons.

I'm sure these things bring back great memories. If that is your handwriting on the 2x2s, then for gosh sakes preserve it and put them all in an album.

You apparently misspelled nickle on your buffalo like I misspelled eror on my first error coin.
