Anyone with a coin of that rarity is going to take it to a reputable auction house to make sure he gets quality bidders and a good price.Something is fishy.

His Feedback is from non-payment. I'm interested to see how this one turns out.

Btw, anyone have the story about this coin?

I'm suspicious. The add says it is PCGS encapsulated but the photo dosen't show a slab. Why would that be on ebay. Something is wrong there.

You think that if I had $250,000 in spare change I'd want to see the coin in my hand and I'd be on the phone with the corperate offices of ebay before I send the check?

Is it asumed that rich people are stupid with thier money? Frankly, I think only idiots buy coins like this anyway. Its still a Zinc penny with almost no historical or artisitc value. Your spending a quarter of a MILLION dollars on a freak show?

Who knows it might be a total scam

I'd like to see a photo of it in the mirror. Either way I don't think anyone would even consider buying this one.

It is the same coin as in the photo on the website. The coin is real, i of course, can not say if the image was swiped from the original site to be put on ebay

The text in the eBay ad is exactly the same as the text in the link.
Surely a 'copy/paste" job. Except they left this part out....

    Rarity:
    Unique

    Known examples:
    1. PCGS MS-66 Red. Found in a bank-wrapped roll of pennies by an anonymous collector sometime before December 1999, then sold to Jack Dempsey of Dempsey & Baxter for an undisclosed sum, who displayed the mule at the 2001 Florida United Numismatists Convention (it was not for sale at that time).

I contacted Dempsey and Baxter about it.

I now this piece exists. And I am sure this is probably the unique piece that PCGS slabbed. I do not believe that this guy actually owns the piece he is selling.

One thing that intrigues me is the description that "The dime rim is present all the way around the coin." When he says dime rim does he mean the reeded edge? I seem to recall that back when this was discovered it was described as having a reeded edge.

Thats why he's trying to sell it on ebay. He wants to pocket the fees in the transaction which normally go to sotherbys
