In November of this year, we'll see the first of the new polymer bank notes that will be replacing our current paper currency. Very European-looking! http://www.moneyville.ca/article/952333--plastic-100-bills-here-this-fall-20s-10s-to-follow
This is pretty cool stuff....my neighbor went to Austraila recently and brought back a set for me... Next time I am in Canada, I will have to look for these as well... thanks for the post.. RickieB
Great looking note RickieB - Thanks for sharing them with us! At least the polymers different countries are realeasing seem to inspire more creative designs. Thanks for the info Ikandiggit
A friend of mine that lived in Australia and moved to New Zealand sent me several of these notes. I really like them and think they are cool. Dont know why the U.S. can do it.
Those new Canada notes do look european. I am going to have to buy the current journey series before they switch over. I need the $50 & $100. Wish they were not so much over face value for these two bills. I bought the first australia note last year. It's a nice note.
I just wanted to add that I do not collect these type of notes. My neighbor (she) runs a retail store and knows I collect..... Currently, these have a value greater than the US Dollar. RickieB
Just to be clear, the notes in the pictures are Aussie notes. We have not yet seen what the Canadian ones will look like. Previews will be out in a few weeks /months, with notes to follow starting in November. The notes will be phased in between 2011-2013, starting with the $100 in Nov 2011.
I really liked the polymer notes when I was in Australia, I saved one of the $10s it took me a while to warm up to them, a bit different than the US notes. Loved using the $1 and $2 coins, it was awesome being able to pick through my change jar and have like $50 and only so many coins!
Ikandiggit, Yoyu need to send some my way when they come out even though the notes shown are not Canadian, they are very nice!
i got all the australian notes when i was there in 2004, they are really amazing..........will have to start getting the canadian notes when they are out.
Thanks for pointing that out, Bob. I copied the link from another site and there was no mention of them being Aussie notes. Regardless, I have a feeling that the design style won't be far off. When these notes make an appearance, I'll be putting together a collection for myself and of course, looking for errors.
I used them when I lived in Aussie, don`t ever put them in a dryer with your wet jeans. They wash well but when they get heated they shrivel Here`s how they are made. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTggA4jVPj0
I agree Ikandiggit. Aussie's are a good sign of things to come. Hopefully more hockey players... less kangaroos Otherwise, my sentiments exactly!
Yes indeed..thats why I posted my Ausie Set because of the notes the guy was holding in the picture...lol I will be back in Calgary and Toronto later this year and will look for some.
