I would really like some opinions of grade and value (if any) on these two coins. I am trying to improve my grading skills, so I want to know what you guys think of these. Thank you for your help.

Sorry if these pictures are not very good, I don't have any additional lights yet so I had to angle the merc in order to reduce glare.

All four pictures are of the same dime, I was just trying to get a clearer picture.

I'll let someone else comment on the Merc, but I'd say for the Lincoln MS62. Value is probably around melt...about 3 cents.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't think the Lincoln would be that high of a grade. I still have a lot to learn about grading. Not bad for getting it back in change today at the convenience store.

The Lincoln is AU, the Merc, pictures have too much light on the obverse, but the reverse looks possible FB.

1968-S = I cannot tell well enough to say 62/63 or AU. I would guess 62

1940-D = I cannot see the bands well enough to be sure, but I will guess full bands. 65 FB or possibly better.

Thanks for the replies. The mercury does indeed have full bands; I tried to get a solid picture of the bands but wasn't very successful. It is the first coin that I have actually purchased. If some of you could give your opinion of FMV I would appreciate it. I would like to know if it was a good deal or not. Either way, I am happy with the coin though. :)

Hey you live in lewisville to nice! Do you happen to know any coins shops around us? I've been searching but can't find one, and about the coins, I clicked the enlarge but it didn't make it any bigger, If they are full bands I would say MS 64, but bigger pics would def help!

No coin shops in the immediate area. There are a couple off of 35/635 in Dallas, but from what I've seen they are super high on their prices.

The pictures should enlarge a decent amount when you click on them.

If you're in Lewisville, stop by Insta-Cash Pawn sometime. My name is Russell and I am the manager. I'd love to meet a fellow CTer!
