I have three coins I would like to get slabbed. However, I only have enough maoney to slab one, and I can't decide which.

    #1
    1939-s Mercury dime
    Cost:$30 grading, $10 designation(FB) = $40
Grade: I say 65+FB/66 FB, lowest I see it going at NGC 64+
    Value: Numismedia says $49 in 65FB, so 65+FB probably $59, $69 in 66 FB
    #2
    1881-S Morgan Dollar
    Cost:$30 grading, $10 designation(Pl/DMPL)=$40
Grade: I say 65 DMPL/66 DMPL, lowest I see it going at NGC 64+PL
    Value:Numismedia says $810 in 65 DMPL, $2840 in 66DMPL, $150 in 64 PL.
    #3
1887 (P) Morgan dollar VAM 12A Gator eye
    Cost:$30 Grading + $10 VAM=$40
Grade: 64+/65 lowest I see it going at NGC 64
    Value:VAMlink says $240 in a 65 as of 2008.

Which one should I slab? Are they worth slabbing?

  3. I vote the 1881-S just for the potential value of it.

Show pictures and maybe the members on here can give you a good estimate to a grade, I would skip the dime since it doesnt seem worth it but I would like to see pics

I'm going to take pics of the winner and do a grading poll.

1881-s because you wont really know how much its worth until you get it slabbed

Yeah I'm not sure what to say with the 81-s. I'm grading from what I know, hard to grade pl's and proof's with MS photograde.

The grading of proofs would be the same as with any coin. Determining the PL designation is probably tougher.

What I'm saying is that it's hard to grade PL's and Proofs based on frosty coins.

How do you know, however, that your coins will get that exact designation? PL/DMPL is VERY hard to tell. All pieces are different. I'd go with the VAM.
