What's the minting process that results in an 1881-S Prooflike? I have two 1881-S's, one of which definitely appears to be a"prooflike, and the difference is like night and day. The luster on the prooflike seems to be laid on thicker, that's the best way I can think of to describe it. Are these just be "first strikes?" Thanks.
Mucho gracias GD. You know, I've looked at these coins on the Heritage website, and the photos really don't seem to do them justice. But you look at them in hand, and the difference just jumps out at you. Very striking (hey, to use a pun )
