I personally thought the holder was good in theory, but once I got it in my hands, I didn't like it. I really enjoyed the size of the old holders, and the new holders, are more or less Identical in size to PCGS holder. It would have been nice if they kept the original holders, but replaced the white inner plastic with clear plastic. Just my two cents, for those of you who actually have held these holders what do you think?
I haven't yet gotten to see them in person but I plan on sending in some coins this year and hope that I like the new holders. Speedy
Hey speedy, If you are going to submit coins, now is the time to do it. When I got my coins back, they sent me a letter, stating their thanks for being patient with the new holders, and to please submit the letter with the next order to receive two free grading submissions out of the order.
I seen the holders at the FUN Show in January. I like them. They are similar to the size most collectors like, which is the size of PCGS, NGC, and ICG's slabs. They are built WAY BETTER than their old slab which ANACS will now call the "classic slab". This slab will be used for cleaned, problem coins, etc. with "net" grades. The new ANACS slabs are thinner, which will make a ANACS box hold 25 slabs versus 20 you see from the other top TPG's. I was told that the new plastic is "top secret" but rest assured, totally inert and safe for the coins. Also, all of these new slabs are sonically sealed. I also like the angled description at the top of the slab so you know what you have in the box without pulling the slab out. I thought SEGS had a patent on this design, but James Taylor told me their design DOES NOT infringe on SEG's patent. I am sure the lawyers are all working hard to collect their fees on just this alone. Last but not least, I like the new larger fonts and colors for given coins. Anything to help me read the slab without reading glasses is a good thing.
Maybe I'll do that this week....I was kidnof saving my money for a larger buy that I have my eye on but I don't think this time ANACS is going to cost me too much because I'm only going to send in 4 coins... 1921 Peace Dollar XF/AU 1908-S IHC VF/XF and 2 1932 (can't remember if they are D's or S's ).... Nothing rare...and I hear that the 08-S and 21 Peace dollar aren't faked much so I don't need to worry about that....but I think I'll slab them just the same. Speedy
You know what. I am going to change my mind about the new anacs holder. They are really nice. The plastic is great for viewing coins, better than any other company IMO.
They still seem to be "tweaking" the new slabs. The ones shown at FUN are not quite the same as the ones they are using now, they are different from the ones that were used for the First Strike coins sold in the first days of Jan by the TV coin shows, and I havealready seen two varieties of the new slabs that were finally released in the past week or so.
