I picked this up from Teletrade a couple weeks ago for my album. It seems, I remember, that an error like this doesn't bring any premium over what the coin is worth but I would like some others opinions before I go and crack it out. Thank you in advance.
To me it would just be worth the price of a well graded XF 1912D cent. Maybe there are those who like to collect PCGS encapsulation errors of some reason. Jim
Don't crack it out. Sent it back to be reholdered ... for free! I believe they call it "mechanical error". You crack it out and you'll have to pay to get to slabbed ... again!
I really bought it for my album and I don't want it in a slab. As Condor said I'd have to pay the shipping and for what I paid for it it wouldn't be worth it. It's interesting that Teletrade had it listed as a '12P so the mistake got by PCGS and the auction house. I noticed the listing and wondered why someone would have an XF '12 slabed and then I saw the boo-boo. I was hoping no one else noticed it but unfortunately somebody else did and I didn't get the rip. I really did want the coin though so I was happy to pay 12D XF money for it. I think it's nice example, accurately graded and just right for my set. A nice upgrade IMHO.
