I think I've got my Morgan grading down pretty good, but I haven't been collecting for too long (about 3 years). I tend to undergrade my MS coins so this time I want your input on these. First, an 1879 CC that I give a G 06.

And second I've got a very nice 1885 O that I can't decide on. I say MS 66 or 67. I know that it's a longshot for a 67 but it's basically mark free. All I have now is my cell phone camera so I hope the photos are up to par.

    Thanks for looking!

Well the 79 is AG-G. Hardly any details visible, eagles breast is completely worn, as is Liberty's hair, face, and the cotton boles.

The 85O, looks really good from those photos, I'd say a shot for 66, but I'll be reserved and say a good 64, 65 tops.

just to take a stab at it..79CC XF40? Cleaned?
85-O could go 66 but I am not sure about the luster..doesnt seem like there is a lot through your pic.

..take this for what it's worth, I am not a big morgan collector.

I would say 6 on the 79-CC would be fair.

On the 1885-O first off I dont think that image is good to grade by. For grade I am thinking 64-65 based on the image and the reverse chatter or whatever is going on by the wreath at the left eagle's wing. Once again real hard to tell with the image.

The 85 O has good luster and very nice cartwheels, but the luster is subdued due to some light streaky toning on the obv. As for the chatter on the rev. there is one or two small breaks in the luster, but other than that there is basically no wear in either the hair, leaves, cheek or eagle's breast. I can't afford to send it in at the moment but I've got about 12 Morgans, a couple very nice pre 64 Wash. Qtrs, and an 1865 3 cent nickel that I'll be sending to NGC when money permits. Probably in the next few months. I'll try to post better pics of this coin and maybe a few of the others to see if y'all think they're worth submitting. I'm pretty sure they are, but the more opinions the better. I know the 3 center is not very valuable, but its more sentimental. My Father bought it when he was a kid and recently gave it to me. I'd like to see what it grades as well as have the protection that a slab provides.

    79 CC = G-6
    85 O = MS-64

My best guess judging from the photos.
