I know this seems like a dumb question but what is a Clasp? I looked up the definition in the dictionary but this didn't answer my question when looking at a coin. Red Book uses this word when grading a coin..."top spot worn. Clasp sharp. Ear distinct." And the word Clasp is used on a few different coin types....I just need to figure out what it is? Definition: a devise for holding objects together????
Well, it would be the clasp (image) on the coin, such as this one holding the fabric together at the bottom of this coin... (also could be hair, etc.)
Thought so on the Bust quarters but this is also used in the discription of the Liberty Seated quarter. I looked closer on this coin type and now see a tiny "clasp" on her right top shoulder...Thanks
