Forgive me, I'm a coin collection newb. I have a small bundle of Andrew Johnson 2011 gold $1 coins. On the outside ring reads the date, and E Pluribus Unum. When stacked all facing the same direction, the words are all read the same. However, I have one coin that has the words facing upside down (in relation to the majority). Is this worth anything? I cannot seem to find anything on this when I google. Thanks!
the edge lettering is not designed to be oriented any specific way. some people label them type "a" and type "b" but both are normal. Richard
In addition to what ziggy stated, don't be fooled by listings or people selling the Presidential $s claiming this is a mint error coin as they are not. The mint does not discriminate whether these $ coins are heads up or heads down when they go into the machine that letters the edges. There is no premium for the lettering being upside down or downside up.
