Thanks to all who gave their expertise on the last 1922. This one is more worn but could it be a die # 3 or another fake? I noticed the 2nd. 2 is lighter than the first and mabye a hammer mark in the O on the back. Don't know what's going on with the left rim though. Any thoughts would be appreciated.:smile
Now that looks like die pair #1. I cannot really tell if it is a weak "D" or a no "D". There might be just a hint of a "D" below the date. To qualify as a no "D", there should be nothing visible using 10X power. That should go fine or maybe a low VF. As for you rim, it was struck just slightly off center.
I like it for a "no D" weak reverse. IN GOD WE TRUST is weak, The TY on LIBERTY is bold while the rest is lighter, and the second two digit is slightly different than the first. When I see those indicators I have no problem buying them raw. Too bad the reverse isn't bold. Try Heritage Auctions archives and you will see dozens of graded examples with these diagnostics. Decent coin and I would totally keep it in a collection, but it isn't a home run. Id say fine to vf max grade. IMO
Thank you so much! I will check out the auction website to look at others. I don't collect Lincoln Cents so will probably sell this one eventually. I have another one that is similar looking to this one. I will post pics on it later. Any idea what this one is worth or what a fair price to ask would be? Want someone to enjoy these coins. Thanks again!
you should be able to get $300 - $500 when (if?) it is certified as a no "D". A weak "D" and you would be lucky to get $75. Uncertified, you would be close to the $75 unless you had a great presentation or a very knowledgeable buyer in hand.
