Hello. I have come across a 1757 GOLD ESCUDO COIN. On the front it reads- NOMINA MAGNA SEQUOR On the rear it reads- 1757-FERDIND-VI-D-G-HISPAN-ETIND-REX Here is a link to the coin I have: http://www.coindatabase.com/coin_detail_pesetas.php?cdb=K210901 MY COIN DOES NOT HAVE THE "J" AND THE "I" EITHER SIDE OF THE CREST ON THE FRONT. I am new to coin collecting and was wondering if somebody could put a rough value on it? Many Thanks. Joe
Can you post a picture of the coin you actually have ? Not a picture of one you think is like yours - but a picture of YOUR coin.
I believe your coin is a fake copy of this one - http://www.coinfactswiki.com/wiki/Mexico_1757-Mo_MM_4_escudos
Thanks very much for your help. What leads you to believe its a fake? Im intrueged as to how someone can tell the difference........in my (amateur) eyes it looks exactly the same?!!
You have look closely at the small details of the design. In particular look at the denticles on yours. You should see a vast difference.
