I found a 2008 Dime yesterday that has a spike protruding from the back side of it in the dead center. Looking closlely it looks like theres a flat base raised above the actual face of the coin and a sharp metal point coming out of it. Never seen one of these before so I figured I would see if anyone else has.
Don't open them. Suspiciously takes you to sign in to your gmail account. Not saying for sure its anything bad but don't do it just in case.
brewfus, please check out this thread on how to upload photos, unless you are trolling, then carry on! http://www.cointalk.com/t8567/
It's nothing suspicious, he just tried to link to an email attachment and he has gmail. Technically challenged != suspicious activity.
Hmm. I can see what you are talking about, but a better photo might help with the diagnosis. Do you have a macro setting on your camera?
I think thats the best my old camera will do. It doesn't really look like its been attached theres no real seam or anything. Should I take it somewhere and have someone look at it if i cant get a good enough picture?
Thanks for clearing it up! Like I said, wasn't sure, just better safe than sorry. And that is one odd looking dime. I actually think I have one like that. If so, I'll dig it out and look it over. But I agree with Merc, PMD for sure.
This same coin or one just like it was on Ebay a few days back. Someone on Ebay had told the seller that this was a small nail head that had been glued to the coin with the nail cut off.
Yea it almost looks like someone either tried to pass this off as an error (pretty likely), or they wanted to make it into a spinning top???
