ok first some very bad news. i lost my job today. so, while my buying is going to pritty much cease for a while, i have decided to do a bit of inventory. but first i need some tips on pics and some advice (especially on things like lighting). while i am only using a camera phone i still get pritty good results but i just want to know if theres anything i can do to improve. the pics are all of us coins just so you know what you are looking at
maybe back away from the coin a bit to bring the coin more in focus and then crop the image . Just try the same type of light with more wattage. also check to see that your lens is perfectly clean. those are awesome pics for a camera phone
thanks i was kind of experimenting with zoom levels and focus. i think i got it almost right with the cent. especially the obverse. i would of cropped them but my editing soft wear is awful
best things to do, try to find place not far from window, and window should be on left, your coin get more relief , if it's silver go to - shade deep:smile, you do not need much shine on photo ( make look cheap )
It looks nicer initially when viewing in a forum like this. try working on the focus now. It could be that the camera is shaking ever so slightly when you push the shutter button. Ideally a timer would alleviate that. Curious, what type of phone is that?
its a nokia x70. I could try using the time shutter function wich may hopefuly reduce the shake from my hand
It most certainly will - just set the camera and coin stationary (after getting it in focus) start the timer and....................................
i will try to find some method of supproting the camera with out holding it so it would eliminate the possiblity of my hands shaking at all
I agree, try backing away a little form the coin. Also, experiment with the lighting settings on the camera phone. Although the detail is good, you can get better defined image if it is focused a little better.
I'm very sorry to hear about your job loss. I don't know how far you are away from the coins, but if you're close, within a couple of inches, try using two clear shot glasses...one to steady the top of the phone and the other to steady the bottom. Whatever you end up using, be sure it's made of a transparent material to allow maximum light to pass through. Those are some of the best camera phone shots of coins that I've seen. -LTB
thank you. im about 4-5 inches away from the coin with the camera and i think this is about the most focused pics i can get. im using a timed shutter so that it eliminates any movement from my hand
