:thumb: I got my bags from the mint.. going through them now.. finding.. not much in the way of errors, But they are beautiful. I did find this.. a die crack? running along the banner and over the horse's feet and onto the rim, and something is wrong with the letters ATE have no ideal what it would be called..could someone tell me..
Look at this{what is it}??? :secret: I found another one.. look at this right out of the mint bag, uncirculated nevada quarter, most of the letters are gone!!!... No one can tell me this one is road Kill...lol :mouth:
Would you believe that the whole bag got ran over by a truck ? I'm sure you'll have actual useful opinions before long chocho
It was a joke chocho - that's why the As you should know by now, I have a lot to learn when it comes to errors. The coin you pictured could be the result of anything from a grease filled die to a test strike - I just don't know. But others here do - that's what I meant when I said you should get a useful answer soon.
It's all the advantage of them being in mint bags...you know it's the fault of the Mint and not a car, unless for some bazzarr reason, they fell out of the truck from the Mint to the bank and you got lucky. If that's the case, be honest, but if not, excellent find to the both of you!
lol, cute.. Thank You, Oh I assure You, With Gloves on these fingers, and very gently, *grins* I pulled it out of the bag I got from the mint.. and said to myself...*oh my..I think I've got something here* then came here to show and tell and find out for sure just what I do have. Thank You Coin Kid for Looking and posting :thumb:
I would say a die crack and a grease filled die....common error but collected by some. I have a friend that is trying to do a complete set of State Quarters with grease filled error. Not total true--there is someone that seals the bags....there are many ways that a coin can be damaged in a sealed mint bag. Speedy
ok got it, a die crack, I thought so.. and a grease filled die, Thats not much of an error is it? ""would much rather it be a test strike :kewl: "" now, whats that in the A T E in the banner that says The Silver State.... something is wrong there too.. whats that called?
Well I dont know what to call it but that one with the fading lettering is great, and I have not seen any like it before :thumb: (A few missing yep but to this extent?) De Orc
Thank You De Orc :thumb: I too thought I had a Great Find... so far they saying it's a grease filled die... Yep lots of letters missing, and some turned.. Really different kind of coin... Really found lot's of errors in one of my bags... I found 2 that have what I guess to be a die crack on the mountain.. looks pretty cool and a few with.... something, not sure what to call this one... looks like the horse is taking a poop looks like cud, but... don't know if cud can be anywhere but the rim... can it??? and the same thing in the flowers on a few of them...And no one has yet told me what that A T E error thats in the silver stATE is called.. come on guys help me here.. I wanted to find things like clad missing...big cuds doubled dies but all in all i have really enjoyed looking through them... and still... could find something...maybe:thumb: Gonna keep one of each, and put the rest on ebay soon...
machine doubling... You Think so???? Im not sure.. those letters a split / cut/diced several times..dd: {they look feathered} still might be / could be I guess, so many kinds of machine doubling...Im learning every day. Thanks for looking Speedy
I just got a bag of Philadelphia Nevada quarters and about ten or so had a very small die chip on the rear forward leg of the third horse. Makes it appear to have a swollen leg. Or your description of the horse taking a crap, gives a new meaning to running scared, they must be running from a round up. just thought I would add my two cents worth.
My opinion only but of all the state quarters I like this one the best. Best error I found was a couple dozen of these, I assume it's the previously christened horse poop variety out of the philadelphia bag.
Is This an Error? Got another one.. This Quarter has a deep cut under the letters SILVER.. but the letters themselves aren't cut at all.. what this called ?
