Looked for some of these occasionally over the years but have not seen them for a while. A couple of weeks back I saw some nut on ebay trying to sell one proof for $1000.00 then another trying to sell a pair for $850.00. So a searched around and found a Bison nickel "error" lot with these 2 FSNC tokens included! Paid $21.00 including shipping and besides these 2 that I was only interested in I got $8.55 in face value of nickels. A few of which a nice errors. 1 Speared Bison, 1 rotated die ( about 17 degrees) and a few proofs, Set of Westward journey First day of issues which I think I'll put back on ebay. the rest are stupid things like die chips and die cracks they really did come up with some crazy "error" names.
Without having the link to those you comment about on EBAY , it's impossible to say one way or another about the Value or Rarity of those Patterns.
These where made for the Full Step Nickel Club in 2002, they are made of silver and 1,938 each of the Matte and Proofs where made. They sold they for I believe $25 each. I do not claim or believe that these are a rarity I was just wanting a set for my nickel collection and thought I got a great deal overall.
Understood. It's common practice for Coin Clubs at some point offer items such as you present. If I understood you initial post, someone on EBAY had them listed for those amounts you posted ?
Yea there where 2 listings for $1000.00 and $850.00 but you can ask as much as you want of couse they did not sell.
Just to bring you up to speed, these were originally offered for $72 a pair with $3 s&h fee. Additionally, I've seen these sell for up to $179 a pair around the 2004 time frame. $21 was an amazing price obviously offered by someone who did not know what they were or didn't care. Marketed correctly, I see no reason why they would not bring at least the original ourchase price.
Thanks for the info. I am pleased with the purchase. $21 - $8 and change (bogus error coins) into my change jar + the silver content value + the speared Bison + the first day issues I am going to resell = SWEET!!!!!!!!
nice find! They were issued originally for about $40 each, I have been watching for a set of those for sometime. Finally found one with a buy it now for $70, I knew it was higher than being a steal, but fair overall considering you never find them. but I just never saw them so I bit the bullet and got them. Nice find and CHEAP deal!
I had set my snipe up for $100, so was pleasantly supprised when I won for $16. I think becuase these where not the main focus of the auction but buried in it they got overlooked.
I want the FSNC nickels so bad! I have been looking for them for 4+ years and can never seem to find any of them for sale! edited
Just saw this pair sell for $499.00! WOW http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260743230181&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
You found a great deal - I can't remember how much I paid for my set, but it was more than that! Nice to see you! Speedy
That must be some kind of mistake or someone jacking with that seller, no way they really brought $500. I really like my set, but for $500 someone can get mine today!!
