Here's the daydream I've been having lately: taking a month off work, renting a condo somewhere warm in the States (Hawaii, Florida, SoCal) with a bank nearby, and splitting my time between relaxing/sightseeing/roll searching so I can start collecting US half dollars and presidential dollars. (I'm snowbound in Canada.) Be honest with me - is that a little bit weird?

Whats so weird about that ? If given the opportunity , most of you would do head stands to do it.

You are totally nuts! Absolutely crazy! Who in their right mind would do this? I mean, really...who collects presidential dollars? :)

Honestly - pretty much all non-collectors think the whole lot of us (coin collectors) are Loonie Toons anyway.

As for the those responding here - we might not be crazy like you are o rin the same way. But I promise you, every single one of us is just as crazy in some other way ;)

And some, some are undoubtably worse than others. But I aint naming names :D

I think it would be much more beneficial to you and your collection to instead plan a trip to one of the major coin shows and make a trip out of it. If you want to do SoCal, the Long Beach Expo is three times a year (Feb, June & Sept) and is a pretty decent show. If you choose Florida, then go to the huge FUN show they have each January. If you're open to other cities then the ANA National Money Show and the ANA World's Fair of Money may be good options.

You could always hit up the local banks on any of those trips as well :)

That would be cool. The challenge would be convincing my wife :)

Sounds like fun to me, but to take it to a real tourism level, I'd like to have a few buckets of world coins. Just to see how many countries I could "visit"
