This 1928 Peace Dollar looks to be a better grade but wondering if anyway to get this black stuff off the obverse? Acetone and if so what the the procedure for doing this so I don't ruin the coin? Thanks in advance. Oops..Forgot the pictures..coming up.
Flyers - the coin seems to have nice luster but under those spots only. Can you tell fi those are on over the surface or in the metal? I'd like it a lot if those were not on it.
Thanks Duke. It's appears to be on the metal but not 100 percent for sure. Not sure if this is a job for me or send it off to NCS to see if they can do anything with it.
IMO, the coin has potential to be a 64 after NCS/NGC is finished with it. Considering the value of this coin. I'd send it in for conservation. Bruce
Weird. This coin has been at NCS since March 4. I saw yesterday Scheduled for grading with NGC. Today I saw Quality Control and now it has switched back to Scheduled for Grading. First time I have ever seen that. I wonder if it got kicked back from quality control?
I think what you may be seeing is an overlap of posting the QC at NCS and the scheduling process at NGC. Chris
I think you may be right Chris. Hopefully they will have the grade posted tomorrow. Now the big question will it be a details grade or not.
Is the NCS the best choice for this service? I don't think that neither NGC or PCGS offers this, do they?
NCS is a coin conservation service. Part of the group with NGC. Here is the website: http://www.ncscoin.com/
Thanks for the reply. I guess I should know this since I'm a member of the NGC Collector Society! I just never had anything that I needed this service for.
