I just found this on ebay, http://cgi.ebay.com/Iceland-3-Coin-...487?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c5a8ff78f What a nice set!!!!
Yes it is.....They are my favorite coin/medal set Iceland ever came out with. I may be a little one sided ,,, so to say,, about Icelandic coins and medal since they are the coins I have been focusing on for the past 8 years or so. I remember a few years back when you can buy that very set,,in that very box for less then $300 bucks,, but has gone up to as much as $750 at a Stack's auction a few months back. I would wait a while for all the hype to die down in a year or two and then you should be able to pick one up for the $300 I mentioned before.
Good to know Iceman Thanks!, I will own one of these sets at some point for sure. They are 3 of the most beautiful coins/medals Iceland ever made IMO. (you can add the King Frederick VIII to that list as well) I go over to Siggi's site all the time and look at his collection and just drool.
Yes..Siggi does have some really nice stuff....If only he was willing to sell me some of those coins.....LOL
LOL, His site is outstanding. I can only dream of having some of the coins/medals he has. Also his photography is spot on, I wish I could take photos half as good as his. When it comes to Iceland, Siggi is the man! For those who may have not seen his site: http://www.palmasoncollection.com/index_main.html It is a must see if your interested in Icelandic coins.
I don't own the set, but I do own 1 of the 1930.....2 Kronur from that set. I'll try to find it and get some pictures up of it.
Actaully there were only a thousand made in the three coin box version, The rest were single box version. The box it self adds premium as it´s very scarce and is alwasy saugth after by collectors who want these coins. Beautiful set you got
Nothing wrong with having a dream Mark. You'll get there someday, I have no doubt. Beautiful coins for sure, I like them. Bruce
Your welcome i´m always glad to see these sets find a good home. The front of the coin depicts King of thule, It´s made by the artist Einar Jonsson. I love his work and visit his musieum often. Artists site http://www.skulptur.is/index.e.html The back is Icelands coat of arms a artwork by Baldvin Bjornsson.
Absolutely beautiful....I'm so glad someone who really appreciates them was able to buy this set. Made even better that it was someone from CT! I'm so happy for you FryDaddy thanks for posting the photos. I'll have one someday! Can I have visitation rights? This set has become my Holy Grail........
of course! wish you were closer you seem like somebody I could get along with. thanks for showing them to me.
