hey, I was on ebay and I found a misprinted dollar bill. my uncle said that this particular bill is worth at least around 500 dollars. I was going to bid on it but wanted to see what everone else thinks first. the link is: http://cgi.ebay.com/RARE-Misprinted...ameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting

let me know. I vaguely remember that there were less than 20 of these in circulation years ago but I don't remember what they are worth. let me know if my uncle is correct. appreciate the help.

I am not a serious collector of American paper currency so I'm not even aware of a '95 misprinted note (I don't doubt that they exist...just unsure of the value of these notes claimed in the auction). Do you mind telling me what you see from the photos of the auction that make you believe this is an error note? (it is hard to see from those pictures. Also the video the seller provides doesn't seem to want to play (maybe just a problem I'm having on my computer).

Your definitely doing the right thing on researching this before you decide to bid. Hopefully you get some good answers here.

    Good Luck.

With photos that bad I wouldn't bid $2.
Also I think he must have taken bad photos for some reason...I don't see anything that looks misprinted or wrong...but then its hard to see the photos.
I wouldn't suggest buying this one...I would also suggest that you buy some books and research before you buy any paper money.

    Nope, mine doesn't play either.

I think in the right lighting, any bill looks like the ob. bled onto the rev. or vice versa.

I can see it. It has an off-set printing error. It's caused when the press cycles without a sheet of paper present. The ink from the printing plate is transfered to the backer board and it is then re-transfered to the wrong side of the paper creating a reveresed image of the back of the note to appear on the front. This will continue sheet after sheet untill all the ink is gone from the backer board with each sheet showing a weaker and weaker image. They are scarce but not rare, and this appears to be one of the latter weak image sheets. It's probably worth about what he wants for the opening bid but that's about all. I've gotten slightly weaker notes than this from time to time in my pockect change and I just spend them.

I'm guessing if I had a really valuable dollar with only a few known, I would borrow a decent camera to get the max value out of the bill as I could. Out of focus on purpose?? maybe try a twelve pack of beer to level out the playing field and put it in focus?? But what do I know??

If you plan on buying anything, request a better image to see the error, tell the person to scan the bill on his/her scanner if possible.
